Contemporary Arts Week 2015 at Nehru Park Chanakyapuri
The 3rd edition of Contemporary Arts Week is being held from the 3rd of October to the 10th of October 2015 at Nehru Park, New Delhi in-between 12:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
Contemporary Arts Week is the first integrated multi-venue, multi-arts contemporary performing arts festival held in New Delhi.
Since its inception in 2013, it has been bestowed a platform to over 500 artists of dance, music, stand up, photography, theatre, short films, visual arts, puppetry, clowning, Improv theatre, open mic and spoken word.
The 3rd edition of Contemporary Arts Week aims to build on last 2 years and make the festival accessible to an even larger audience.
This year the festival spreads across 8 venues, with 44 events featuring 300 artists over the week.
To start off the festivities, the opening weekend in Nehru Park is a two day Art and Food carnival featuring multiple stages and a dedicated food and beverage area with closing performances by Hari & Sukhmani and Bandish Projekt to be held on 3rd October and 4th October the Nehru Park, New Delhi.
About Hari & Sukhmani:
Hari & Sukhmani is a band, consisting of 2 individuals – singers, songwriters and producers.
Hari & Sukhmani have been creating fresh and eclectic sound, fusing traditional punjabi folk music with ambient electronica embodying their powerful, singular and independent spirit.
They have been inspired by famous Sufi poets like Bulleh Shah, Baba Farid, Kabir and Shah Hussain.
Sukhmani Malik a trained Hindustani classical vocalist and performer and Hari Singh a multifaceted producer, vocalist and audio engineer have been globetrotting as a band since 2009.
The band’s regular appearances on TV shows and Radio broadcasts have made them a popular act among diverse audiences.
Appearing on BBC Radio UK, and shows such as Star World’s The Dewarists, Coke Studio @ MTV, Fox Traveller’s Sound Trek, Tehelka Music Project.
Hari & Sukhmani have become an integral part of India’s indie music community. Their collaborations with artists such as Noori (Pakistan), Arshad Khan (Israj Player), Thu Le (Vietnam, Western guitarist), Trilok Gurtu (Percussionist), Fakhruddin Ghaffari (Iran, Percussionist) and Earthstage (Indian Jazz Band) have allowed their music to cut across various platforms, genres, audiences and even borders and be heard around the world.
The band’s motto is to leave behind cultural, religious, and racial divides.

About Nehru Park:
Nehru Park, Delhi, established in 1969 is a large park situated in the Chanakyapuri Diplomatic Enclave in New Delhi, India.
Nehru Park is named after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and is spread over an area of 80 acres close to the heart of the city.
Nehru Park is today one of city’s leading green areas, known for ‘Morning Ragas and Evening Ragas Concerts, SPIC MACAY music concerts and the annual ‘Bhakti Festival’
Nehru Park also houses the ancient Shiv Temple and cafe.
